nicholas - supporters story fundraising for race against denentia

Nicholas raised nearly £1,900.00 plus GiftAid cycling 26 marathons in 26 days in memory of his Grandfather, John Zwicky.

The Challenge

“I set myself the challenge to cycle 26 marathons in 26 days. As there was no London marathon this year due to the pandemic, I wanted to try to raise some money for charity as they will have lost out on a lot of donations. The challenge set was really a challenge of endurance, knowing no matter how tired I was, how much I ached or the weather conditions, I had to push myself out of my comfort zone to complete the ride. With the support of family and friends I was able to complete the challenge and raise money towards an excellent charity.”

Why did you choose to support RAD?

“I had recently lost my Grandfather John Zwicky who had suffered with dementia for the last 7 years of his life. I set myself this challenge in his honour. Both himself and my Grandmother have suffered from this illness, causing many struggles for themselves and surrounding family. Dementia is a debilitating illness and unfortunately currently there is no known cure of prevention. It is an illness that can affect anyone at any time. Race Against Dementia is a critical charity, helping to support and accelerate research and development to find prevention or a cure for dementia. I hope that I can play my part in helping making this happen.”
