Race Against Dementia funds early career researchers to find new preventative treatments and cures for all forms of dementia.
By instilling an F1 attitude to problem-solving, team building and innovation in our RAD Fellows and RAD Associates, Race Against Dementia seeks to accelerate global research and development in its race to find solutions to one of the world’s greatest challenges.
The money that you raise will help to accelerate this vital research. Thank you for your support.
There are many ways that businesses can help, including:
“Randox is proud to partner with Race Against Dementia as our nominated charity for 2023.
We understand the importance of taking action early regarding current and future health. As a global market leader within the clinical diagnostics field, it was an obvious choice for Randox to partner with a similarly ambitious organisation. Race Against Dementia is a cause very close to many of our hearts.”
Dr Peter FitzGerald, Managing Director, Randox
Randox announces Race Against Dementia as partner charity for Randox Grand National Festival 2023
“We are always delighted to welcome Sir Jackie, a leading Scotsman, to our Balmoral Hotel and are keen to support his initiative to accelerate dementia research through Race Against Dementia.”
Race Against Dementia adheres to the Fundraising Regulator and Charity Commission guidelines. RAD is accountable for all funds raised and received in its name.
It is really important that the people you are seeking donations from completely understand where the money they donate will go to and how it will be used.
To help raise as much money as possible for RAD, we would suggest:
Set a target – this is a great way to focus
Make your event unique – try to think of ways of making it different
Social media – share what you are up to with your followers on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Don’t forget to tag @racingdementia so we can repost your activities to our followers!
Advertise – we can provide posters to help promote your event
Sponsorship – we can provide sponsorship forms which will allow us to claim Gift Aid where possible
Local Press – let your local media team know what you are doing and why you are helping RAD
Donating profits
To donate the profits or proceeds from the sale of a product or service to RAD you will need to enter into a Commercial Participator Agreement (CPA) with RAD. This will specify the terms of the partnership and the responsibilities on both parties.
Please contact us at fundraising@raceagainstdementia.com so we can discuss setting up a CPA with you. Only partners who have a valid CPA in place with RAD can use our logo to promote their business/product.
Colleagues/employee fundraising
Please feel free to use our “In Support of Race Against Dementia” logo. This can be found here.
Payroll Giving
This is a tax efficient way for employees to support RAD. For an employee on the basic rate of income tax, a donation of £10 would cost them £8 from their net pay. There are a number of providers who offer this service to companies.
Payroll Pennies
An effective way for employees to give to a nominated charity is for the “pennies” in their net pay to be deducted and amalgamated each month as part of a Payroll Pennies scheme. Over the course of a year these can really add up and would form part of a Corporate Partnership agreement.
Corporate Donations
You can make your donation via our website here.
Alternatively, you can make your donation via JustGiving.
RAD can also accept payments into its bank account via BACS, please contact us at info@raceagainstdementia.com for RAD’s account details.
We are happy to discuss ways in which your donation is recognised, although we appreciate that there are occasions where privacy needs to be protected.
Raffles, auctions and lotteries
There are strict laws relating to all lotteries and raffles – so please be sure that you are familiar with these and operate your auction or raffle accordingly. There may be circumstances when a licence is required.
You can visit gamblingcommission.gov.uk for more information.
You must comply with the regulations if you wish to make use of our “In Support of Race Against Dementia” logo.
There may be tax relief available to you if your employer donates to charity. More information on this can be found here.
Gift Aid is a simple way to maximise fundraising, however there are strict rules relating to when it can be applied. It only applies on donations made by an individual and it cannot apply to ticket sales, raffles or winning auction bids.
The fundraising undertaken by an employer and its employees is incredibly important to us all at RAD. Please ensure that it is clear that you are fundraising “In Support of Race Against Dementia” and that your activities do not represent or appear to be organised by Race Against Dementia. RAD cannot accept any responsibility for your promotion or activities, or have a liability to anyone that participates in them. If your promotion or activity involves the general public, we advise you to seek advice regarding public liability insurance. A range of companies offer this insurance.
Extra care should be taken if your fundraising activity involves children and you must ensure proper adult supervision. Note that children under the age of 16 are not allowed to purchase raffle tickets.
Please refer to the Food Standards Agency guidance if you are organising any event which involves food and/or alcohol. Caterers will need to provide their food hygiene certificates and public liability insurance. Visit www.food.gov.uk for more information.
