Sir Jackie Stewart OBE

Scotland to Las Vegas! Lauren Dundee joins Race Against Dementia at the “One Night for One Drop” benefit to advocate for our race to find a cure.

On the 15th of November, I had the honour of attending the “One Night for One Drop” benefit in Las Vegas with Race Against Dementia. Despite donning my Clan MacDonald sash, I was welcomed as an honorary member of Clan Stewart for the evening! I joined Sir Jackie, Mark, and the team to spread the message of how Race Against Dementia is applying the F1 mindset of speed and collaboration to dementia research.

Sir Jackie served as Honorary Chair of the event, and generously auctioned an experience with his family at the 2024 Silverstone British Grand Prix. He spoke candidly of Lady Helen Stewart’s experience with dementia, and reaffirmed why it is time for action.

I am originally from Perth, Scotland, but I am currently studying Sports MBA at San Diego State University. I am enthusiastic about motorsport, volunteering as a race marshal during the summers, when my grandmother was diagnosed, I found Race Against Dementia.

Searching for ways I could support the charity, I realised that my geographic proximity, in addition to my knowledge of the business and technical side of motorsport, could be useful to their fundraising efforts at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. I contacted the team, and my offer of help was immediately accepted. I never in my wildest dreams expected to be sharing stories of Scotland with Sir Jackie himself.

How can you get involved? Whether it is purchasing Race Against Dementia merchandise or hosting your own fundraising event, there are a plethora of ways to support the cause. Formula 1 fans could host a watch party next year and collect funds from attendees, or groups can host their own auction in support of Race Against Dementia. The resilience and determination of Sir Jackie and the Race Against Dementia team is inspiring, and I encourage everyone to join the race. We will all be winners if we do.

There are lots of ways you can support us. In doing so, you can make a huge difference to research, join the race today.
