Looking for fundraising tips to make the most of your event or challenge? Check out our top tips to kickstart your fundraising and smash your target!
Set up a JustGiving page
You can easily get started with your fundraising by setting up your Race Against Dementia JustGiving page here.
Share why you’re supporting Race Against Dementia—this is your opportunity to highlight your personal connection to the charity and inspire others to support you. Everyone has unique stories, so be sure to share yours.
Keep your page updated regularly. This keeps your fundraiser fresh in people’s minds and helps you reach that all important target!
Be bold and ambitious with your target—let everyone know you’re aiming high. Fundraising pages with a target raise 46% more money, as they motivate people to help you reach your goal.
Share dementia statistics
By fundraising for Race Against Dementia, you’re supporting early-career researchers working on preventative treatments, transformative medicines, or even a cure for dementia.
Dementia touches so many people across the world, but most people know little about it. Add some statistics to your fundraising page to educate and inspire support:
- Dementia affects critical brain functions – memory, language, attention, problem-solving, orientation and judgment – it disrupts life. Every single day.
- By 2050, 152 million people around the world are expected to live with dementia. Today, it’s 55 million.[1]
- Dementia is the leading cause of death in England and Wales.[2]
- One in two people will be affected by dementia through developing it themselves or caring for someone with dementia.[3]
Get kitted out
You can buy Race Against Dementia merchandise and clothing from our online shop, including pin badges, pens and keyrings.
We also have cotton T-shirts, caps and sports shirts. Wearing official gear will not only help you look the part during your fundraising, but it also serves as an excellent way to spread awareness of Race Against Dementia. If you’re taking part in an active challenge, check out our sports t-shirts. You’ll receive one of these for free – just pay P&P – if you raise £200 or more!
Share, share, share
Social media is a powerful tool—use it to promote your fundraiser!
Don’t hesitate to regularly update your friends, family, and colleagues about your goals and ask for their support. Capture attention with photos—consider using an image of yourself in one of our Race Against Dementia t-shirts or share a picture of you with your loved one who you’re honouring through your fundraising.
You can also create a QR code that links directly to your fundraising page. Check out this guide for how to do it! This way, you can promote your fundraiser outside of the digital space—maybe print your QR code and display it at work!
Employer Matched Funding
Encouraging your employer to match donations allows you to set a higher target and reduces the amount you need to raise on your own—a true win-win! Many large companies provide a donation matching program as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. Even smaller employers may be willing to match contributions if you explain the importance of your fundraising efforts.
After your Event or Challenge
Some people may be waiting to sponsor you until after your fundraising event or challenge is finished, so be sure to share your amazing achievements with an update and photos to encourage them to visit your JustGiving page and make a donation!
