Hear what people affected by dementia have to say about Race Against Dementia
The stopwatch is ticking. The race is on

Sir Jackie Stewart OBE

This year, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone wasn’t just about speed and strategy – it was about making a difference off track too. As Lando Norris celebrated an unforgettable home win, another race was in motion: the race to beat dementia.

We were at the heart of the action across the week – from the paddock to the grid and out among the fans, raising awareness and funds to accelerate breakthroughs in dementia research.

Find out more about what we got up to in the week of the British Grand Prix:

Celebrating F1 at Downing Street

Founder Sir Jackie Stewart OBE attended a Downing Street reception on Wednesday alongside more than 100 members of the F1 community to celebrate the sport’s 75th anniversary year ahead of the British Grand Prix with his Race Against Dementia pin badge adorning his suit jacket.

Sharing our message

Members of our team were based in the Silverstone Museum from Thursday until Sunday, introducing fans to the crucial work that the charity does.

Fans had the opportunity to take selfies with a life-size cutout of Sir Jackie, enter a prize draw to win a signed Sir Jackie mini helmet, and get their hands on some Race Against Dementia merchandise, with all proceeds going towards groundbreaking dementia research. Watch the highlights below:

The story behind Race Against Dementia was also shared on BBC Radio Northampton as Sir Jackie and CEO, Lydia Beaton, featured in an interview that was broadcast on the station’s race day show. You can listen below:

Cycling to Silverstone

Brothers Craig and Peter McKerral embarked on an epic cycling challenge – making the 550-mile journey on two-wheels from their hometown in Campbeltown, Mull of Kintyre, Scotland to Silverstone for the Formula 1 weekend.

After spending four days on the road, the brothers arrived at Silverstone Museum on Friday 4 July, crossing the finish line before being welcomed by their families and members of the Race Against Dementia team.

They raised an incredible £44,000 which will fund vital dementia research.

A Grand Prix experience like no other with DHL

Earlier this year, we teamed up Official Logistics Partner of Formula 1® – DHL – to offer one lucky winner a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the British Grand Prix like never before. Over the weekend, the winners met Race Against Dementia founder and F1 legend Sir Jackie Stewart in the F1 paddock during their behind-the-scenes tour.

Through powerful moments at Silverstone – whether it was raising awareness with fans, emotional interviews, or the inspiring efforts of supporters like the McKerral brothers – Race Against Dementia brought its mission into sharp focus.
