Race Against Dementia’s Fellowship Programmes are dedicated to developing our Research Fellows into exceptional leaders in the field of dementia research.
In March 2023, Race Against Dementia organised a career masterclass at the University of Edinburgh with a group of Race Against Dementia Fellows and Associates. The sessions were chaired by Race Against Dementia’s two Scientific Advisors – Professor Siddharthan Chandran and Professor Philip Scheltens.
We were also joined by Professor Elizabeth Coulson, a dementia specialist from the University of Queensland who sits on the Dementia Australia selection panel for Race Against Dementia’s Australian Fellows. We covered topics such as intellectual property in research, collaboration with industry and how to generate successful grant applications.
The talks were hosted by a number of dementia experts including Tara Spires-Jones, Professor of Neurodegeneration at the University of Edinburgh and Professor Nadeem Sarwar, a senior leader at pharmaceutical company Eisai, who has recently been appointed to co-chair the UK Government’s Dementia Mission. The event generated a lot of debate and thought amongst the Fellows who attended.
