99 Grands Prix. 99 runners. One race against dementia.
Each place represents one of the 99 Formula 1 Grand Prix races contested by our founder, Sir Jackie Stewart OBE. Together, our team will honour his extraordinary racing career while helping to accelerate pioneering dementia research inspired by the speed and precision of Formula 1.
Join the team. Run for breakthroughs.
Every step you take and every pound you raise will help researchers go further, faster in the race to beat dementia.
Every three seconds, someone in the UK develops dementia. While progress has been made, breakthroughs can’t wait.
Race Against Dementia was founded by Sir Jackie Stewart after his wife, Helen, was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. By bringing the innovation, collaboration and relentless pursuit of performance that define Formula 1 into dementia research, we’re helping the world’s brightest researchers accelerate discoveries that could change millions of lives.
When you run for Race Against Dementia, you’re not just taking on 26.2 miles. You’re helping power the next breakthrough.
We’re looking for 99 passionate fundraisers to represent Race Against Dementia at the 2027 Double TCS London Marathon on Saturday 24 April 2027.
As part of Team Race Against Dementia, you’ll receive:
Congratulations!
If you’ve secured your own place through the 2027 Double TCS London Marathon ballot, we’d still love you to run for Race Against Dementia.
Simply email fundraising@raceagainstdementia.com and we’ll provide everything you need to join Team Race Against Dementia, including fundraising support, resources and an official running top.
We’ll contact all applicants the week commencing 31 August 2026. If you’re successful, you’ll receive an email inviting you to join Team Race Against Dementia and pay your registration fee. Successful applicants will have 14 days to accept their place by agreeing to the terms and conditions and paying the £100 registration fee.
The registration fee is £100.
This helps cover a small proportion of the costs associated with your 2027 Double TCS London Marathon place and supporting you throughout your fundraising journey. The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, even if you later decide not to take part, and does not count as part of your fundraising target.
If we don’t receive your registration fee within 14 days of your offer, we may offer your place to someone on our waiting list.
The minimum fundraising commitment is £2,500 (excluding Gift Aid).
We’ll support you throughout your fundraising journey with ideas, resources and encouragement to help you achieve your target.
We understand that fundraising can be unpredictable, and we’ll support you every step of the way.
We ask all runners to actively work towards their fundraising commitment and stay in touch with us about their progress. If you’re concerned about meeting your target, please contact us as early as possible so we can help.
Not at all.
Whether it’s your first fundraising challenge or you’ve supported charities before, we’ll provide plenty of fundraising ideas, guidance and support.

Sharing your fundraising ideas, your motivation and why you’d like to run for Race Against Dementia will help us understand your application.

Many employers offer matched funding or other fundraising support.
If your employer has a matched giving scheme, your fundraising could go even further towards accelerating dementia research.
Unfortunately, no. Race Against Dementia charity places are valid only for the Saturday event of the 2027 Double TCS London Marathon and cannot be deferred to a future event.
If you’re unable to take part, please let us know as soon as possible by contacting fundraising@raceagainstdementia.com. While we can’t offer a deferral, notifying us early may allow us to reallocate your place if event deadlines permit.
Charity places are allocated to individual runners and cannot be transferred to another person.
We are anticipating exceptionally high demand for our 2027 Double TCS London Marathon charity places, and unfortunately not everyone will be successful in receiving a charity place.
If we’re unable to offer you a charity place, we’ll let you know as soon as possible.
Depending on availability, you may be offered a place on our waiting list if another place becomes available.
You can also support Race Against Dementia by taking part in one of our other fundraising events.
