A busy week in Australia!

Posted on the 8th April 2022

Culminating in this evenings Race Against Dementia Gala in Melbourne, Sir Jackie has had a busy week.

On Monday, Sir Jackie visited Race Against Dementia-Dementia Australia Research Foundation Fellow, Dr Andrew McKinnon, at the University of Sydney’s Brain and Mind Centre alongside Dementia Australia’s Manager, Annette Moxey.

Thursday saw Dementia Australia’s Chair, Professor Graeme Samuel and Maree McCabe, CEO, host Sir Jackie at their Melbourne site to demonstrate some of the technology which is benefitting the field of dementia research.

Amongst this activity have been numerous appearances and interviews highlighting RADs work and mission, as well as the crisis of dementia, and the desperate need to increase funding for research to find a cure.

This evening sees the annual RAD Gala and charity auction. So far this event has raised over $400,000 and all monies raised this evening will go direct to the RAD-DARF Post-doctoral Fellowship Programme.

Cancelled at the last minute in 2020, this is fast becoming one of the hot ticket events of the Melbourne Grand Prix. Honouring Sir Jackie’s achievements, the event will be attended by a host of celebrities and is guaranteed to be a great evening.

Our three RAD-DARF Fellows are also in attendance with Dr Kunle Bademosi speaking about the Fellowship.

Our immense thanks and appreciation goes to all the sponsors for the event and of course Craig Joel and the organising committee.

RAD-DARF Fellow Dr Andrew McKinnon, Sir Jackie Stewart and Professor Olivier Piguet, Professor of Clinical Neuropsychology and director of FRONTIER, the frontotemporal dementia clinical research group. He is current President of the Australasian Society for the Study of Brain Impairment.

The RAD Gala - the hottest ticket in town!
