Race Against Dementia welcomes our new CEO

Posted on the 2nd August 2021

We would like to welcome Bridget Barker who joins RAD in the position of CEO taking over from Dr Penny Moyle.

Bridget was with the London law firm, Macfarlanes, for over 35 years where she headed up the Investment Management Group. Following her retirement from the Macfarlanes partnership, Bridget has taken on a number of non-executive directorships and other advisory roles in the private equity sector. She has also worked with several charities in areas including governance and fundraising.

Penny  will continue with Race Against Dementia in a consultancy capacity as the RAD Fellows’ Leadership Programme Consultant.  Sir Jackie’s vision is for dementia science to learn from the rapid problem-solving culture of Formula 1. As a result, Penny has created an F1-inspired development programme for all of RAD’s funded scientists.  The goal is for them to learn from best practice in Formula 1 and other highly successful commercial enterprises, to fast-track their progress to become leaders in their field and to accelerate research progress.

Thank you Penny for all you have contributed to establishing Race Against Dementia, and welcome to Bridget. It’s great to have you with us!

I am so delighted to have joined Race Against Dementia. I think the idea of applying Formula 1 principles to research into dementia is inspired and very much hope that the fellows who are supported by RAD will make significant discoveries to help in the fight against this dreadful disease.

I’m looking forward to continuing to build RAD, working with Sir Jackie, our Trustees, partners, scientists and supporters to challenge and accelerate research to beat dementia.

Bridget Barker, RAD CEO
