RAD Conference: Dementia Research Meets Motorsport

Posted on the 30th April 2021

Hosted by Race Against Dementia in partnership with Cranfield
University and DEMON Network, we’re proud to announce that the first Dementia Research Meets Motorsport Conference will take place at Cranfield University and/or virtually on Tuesday 6th July 2021.

The day will consist of two parts: the Innovation Accelerator workshop and an afternoon Summit of key note speakers.  The Summit is open to virtual attendance by anyone.  We hope that it will be of interest beyond dementia scientists and motorsports enthusiasts, to anyone who has been touched by dementia.

Here’s a bit more detail….

The Innovation Accelerator is a concentrated competitive workshop to elicit and develop big ideas that could accelerate the pace of progress in dementia research.

It is a competition between teams comprising early career dementia scientists and similar stage experts from motorsports. The goal is to create diverse teams for diversity of thinking and to break down ‘silos’ that currently exist between institutions and disciplines.
Innovation Accelerator participants will benefit from expert input from Mentors drawn from dementia science, commercial R&D, business and Formula 1.

Invitations are open for applications from early career dementia researchers to participate in the competition for which numbers are strictly limited.
Closing date is May 31st and more information can be found here:

The winning team will be announced at the beginning of the afternoon Summit, with prizes presented by Sir Jackie Stewart.

Attendees to the Innovation Accelerator are automatically signed to attend the afternoon Summit.

The Dementia Research Meets Motorsport Summit will bring together
keynote speakers from medical research, commercial innovation, government and Formula 1 to explore how to inject ‘F1 Attitude’ into dementia research to accelerate progress to a world free of dementia.

The Summit is open to all. More information and booking can be found here:
