The Mindset of Champions: An evening with Sir Jackie Stewart OBE and Damon Hill OBE to support Race Against Dementia and halow project

Posted on the 13th December 2020

Ignition Human Performance and Motorsport Tickets are proud to bring together two “World Champion charities” Race Against Dementia and halow project, for a one-off special virtual event on Tuesday 3rd February 2021 at 7.30pm – “The Mindset of Champions: an evening with Sir Jackie Stewart OBE and Damon Hill OBE”.

Join us as two of the biggest names in British Motorsport, Sir Jackie Stewart OBE and Damon Hill OBE sit down (virtually) with Ignition co-founder Nick Butcher, to talk about what it takes to become a Formula One World Champion. A feat achieved by only 32 people.

They’ll discuss a range of topics such as leadership, teamwork, achieving a winning mentality and their championship battles. The pair will also reflect on the memories between the Hill and Stewart families over the years, as well as how they started their two charities, Race Against Dementia (Sir Jackie Stewart) and halow project (Damon Hill).

It’s great to bring together our two charity partners Race Against Dementia and halow project for this very special one-off event to discuss “The Mindset of Champions” with Sir Jackie Stewart and Damon Hill.
Thank you to our partners Motorsport Tickets for helping us bring this together for what should be a real evening to remember. 2021 represents the 25th anniversary of Damon’s Championship winning year in 1996 and we will be building in some unique elements to mark the occasion, alongside a very special prize draw for 10 lucky ticket holders. Offering the chance to win a signed poster of Sir Jackie and Damon. Most importantly we hope it goes some way to raising much needed funds for both charities in what has undeniably been a tough 2020.

Living with my wife, Helen, during the COVID-19 pandemic has been a blessing in disguise as we have spent some together away from the busyness of life. But it has also been hard seeing how she has been affected by her condition. Dementia strips so much away - there was a time when Helen was razor sharp, and I know first-hand just how heart-breaking dementia is for so many.
It’s becoming increasingly apparent that the toll on people with living with dementia during the COVID-19 pandemic is profound. Dementia was already one of the great medical challenges we have to overcome, and with the virus exacerbating an already dire situation, the need for breakthroughs has never been greater

Sir Jackie Stewart OBE

I’m delighted to take part in this virtual seminar ‘Mindset of Champions, especially because it will be raising funds for two very worthy causes, Sir Jackie Stewart’s ‘Race Against Dementia’, and our very own HALOW Project. HALOW provides meaningful and fun opportunities for people with learning disabilities to grow. They do this by having fun! Sadly, a lot of this fun involves social activities. Naturally, with COVID 19, we have had to restrict many of our activities because of the social distancing. Also, our fundraising activities have had new challenges as one of our biggest events was a mass cycle ride over 3 days! We are very grateful therefore to be able to attract some interest in our charities through this event and raise some much-needed funds at this incredibly difficult time for everyone.

Damon Hill OBE
