RAD Welcomes Our Scientific Advisors, Prof Philip Scheltens and Prof Siddharthan Chandran

Posted on the 10th June 2020

Professor Philip Scheltens (VU University of Amsterdam) and Professor Siddharthan Chandran (University of Edinburgh) have been central to supporting and guiding Race Against Dementia in selecting our Fellows and with our focus and direction. Their advice, support and collaborative approach has been invaluable both to the charity and to Sir Jackie.

We welcome them joining us in an official capacity as members of our Scientific Advisory Board.

Pandemics like the current one remind us how precious our health is and how unevenly elderly are hit by this virus. However, a virus can be treated by a vaccine, while the biggest threat of all, has yet to be overcome. Our fight against dementia should not be slowed down, and now more than ever joint efforts should be directed to find a cure. As a member of the scientific advisory board of RAD I will do my best to make this possible, one way or the other!

Prof Philip Scheltens

History has taught us that discovery of treatments for Dementia, like every major health challenge, requires partnership, innovation and disruption.
I am delighted to support Sir Jackie and the RAD in their efforts to accelerate and “shake up research” through F1 inspired
thinking which will, I very much hope, add immense value to existing programmes of Dementia research.

Professor Siddharthan Chandran
